¿Alguien se anima?

The Bank of Spain Chair in Computational Economics at the Economics Department of the University Jaume I of Castelló (Spain) is seeking to fill two positions for

Doctoral Students

to contribute to the research program of the Bank of Spain Chair headed by Professor Thomas Lux within the project on Role of Trust and Network on Systemic Risk in the Banking System.

Each position is targeted towards a new doctoral student who will pursue his PhD in the research area defined by the project. Appointments are initially for one year, with the perspective of subsequent prolongation for the complete duration of the project (four years). The salary is based on the Spanish public pay scale for PhD position.

The Bank of Spain Chair is headed by Professor Thomas Lux, also member of the Economics Department at the University of Kiel (Germany) and the Kiel Institute for the World Economy. The research group of the chair will investigate the structure and development of linkages within the financial sector, combining a network-based approach from the natural sciences with economic analysis. The research project will be conducted in closed collaboration with Professor Lux´s research group in Kiel.

Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the project, applications from candidates with a Master (or equivalent title) in Economics or an equivalent degree in Physics, Mathematics, or Computer Science are encouraged. Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Spanish would be appreciated, but is not mandatory.

Applications, including a cover letter, CV, references, and copies of degree certificates, should be sent by email to Simone Alfarano, mail:

The application deadline is December 20th, 2011.
